Today's Everyday Fashion: Back In Style

You know that rule that you should get rid of something if you haven't worn it in 6 months to a year? I'm not a big fan of that rule. I will keep things for years without wearing it, and then pick back up wearing it again. Take this top and these shoes, both 7-ish years old, and they feel totally current. They made it this long since both are in great condition and I still liked each piece enough to keep it for later (aka for whenever it came "back in style"). What are your personal rules for when to keep and when to toss?

Approx. dates: Top and shoes are 7 years ago. Skirt is 3 years ago. Purse is 2 years ago. Coat is this season.
