Today's Everyday Fashion: Two Types of Fashion
Today's outfit features one very trendy shirt (styled for winter last week, and for summer today!), as well as some very on-trend sandals and accessories. What does "trendy" really mean though? To answer that question I think we have to define the two different types of fashion - the fashion industry, and the fashion in our everyday lives. The fashion industry decides what's "in style" by putting it on the runway, in magazines and in retail stores. Our everyday fashion is what we really wear in real life. We are somewhat affected by the fashion industry because they determine what's in stores, but I also think the "rules" they come up with do not need to apply to us! I like seeing what creative new things the fashion industry puts out, but I also don't think there should be any pressure to wear it or "keep up." Wear it because you like it, and it speaks to your creative heart. Ruffles and bright colors have always been a favorite so these particular trends are really speaking to me and I can't wait to wear them this summer. Whether or not they make their way into your everyday fashion is totally up to you!
