What is Ethical Fashion?
EDEN & IVY bodysuit - coming soon to HSN.com in 5 colors!
There are so many possible ways to define “ethical fashion” these days:
fair trade/working conditions
sustainable/good for the environment
socially good/socially conscious
It’s a very broad term, ethical fashion, and one I’ve been throwing around a lot lately! So today we’re sharing how we define it at EDEN & IVY.
Being an ethical fashion company means that we put ethics first, in all decisions. This means people over profits - both the people who purchase EDEN & IVY, and the people who make it. (Putting people before profits in a company is also often called “being socially conscious.”) This also means the planet over profits - we prioritize using organic cotton and/or deadstock (aka “leftover” or secondhand) materials.
We strive to abide by the Golden Rule (do unto others as you would have them do unto you) in all ways! And while there is always more work to be done (the clothing industry has a long way to go in general), when we use this term it’s to tell you what matters the most to us.
While we may come ethics first, we invite you to come style first, choosing what you really want to wear. We aim to make things that are exciting and flattering and we want you to enjoy your clothes! There’s no reason ethical fashion has to be heavy or boring. Ethics may be our first guiding principle at EDEN & IVY, but a close second is FUN!
