Eden & Ivy Fair Trade Tie Waist Top

The mission of Eden & Ivy is to make fair trade more trendy and fun, which is exactly how today’s top was created for my clothing collection with Elegantees! This design makes your typical “tee” into a blouse with a peplum vibe without sacrificing any of the comfort or ease of washing. Plus these colors - blush pink and tangerine - are so dreamy! I’m loving these colorful tops for summer and hope you love them, too!

Today's Everyday Fashion: Rainbow Meets Linen

Today’s outfit is what happens when your two favorite style things come together into one look! I’m nuts about rainbow stripes, and equally nuts about linen things with buttons. So when I saw this 2-piece set it was an instant YES. The bottoms are actually shorts (or skorts to be exact!) with an elastic waistband in the back, see second to last photo. I sized up based on the recommendations and for a looser fit and am really happy with how it turned out. And if you like this style but prefer a different shape or retailer - then check out lots of similar options I rounded up for you, below!

Eden & Ivy Fair Trade Button Top

I’m so excited to share item #3 from my fair trade clothing line today! This beautiful organic cotton top with buttons and tie front was modeled after a favorite top that’s on repeat in my closet (no surprise, but these are already on repeat, too!). I am wearing mine tied up higher than you’ll see on the models (I unbuttoned the bottom button, then tied it). And the olive color (below) also looks great with jeans - see this post for the same olive color styled with blue denim. Let me know how your are liking this top and which color you prefer!

Today's Everyday Fashion: That’s Bananas

This bananas tee and yellow necklace were too cute and quirky to pass up! For my first look with them, I loved the idea of adding a black and white print. I tried it with both a skirt (above) and pants (below) - which one do you like best? And if jeans are more your thing, you could try a polka dot cardigan or black and white sneakers to achieve the same vibe!

Today's Everyday Fashion: Plaid For Summer

Inspiration: American Eagle

I love throwing on a plaid shirt and jeans during the fall and winter months. So when I saw this inspiration photo (above), I thought - why not capture that same casual feeling for summer?! With the smocking and off-shoulder details this top feels like a fun riff on the gingham trend. I’m all about throwing this easy outfit on all summer long!

Top: American Eagle, $22
Jeans: Express, $48

Today's Everyday Fashion: Color Inspo

I’m being super selective with purchases lately, and this skirt is not making the cut!! I wear the rainbow skirt below so much that I figured I’d wear this one a ton, too. But I don’t like how it looks with this top (too much volume), and the skirts are so similar that I can’t see ever reaching for the new over the old. How cute is this retro building in Orlando though? And hopefully this outfit provides some fun color inspo - lavender, red, yellow and chartreuse could make a super cute outfit!

Eden & Ivy T-Shirt in Four Colors

We’re rolling out one more item from my new fair trade clothing line, Eden & Ivy, this week! It’s the most simple item in the collection - a v-neck tee that comes in 4 neutral colors. Simple tees are a must in my closet because without them, I couldn’t make my statement pieces work!

So what does this t-shirt have that others don’t? 1. The quality is outstanding! You will not find a softer, thicker, more luxurious t-shirt in this price range. 2. You get all the good vibes knowing that the women who made your shirt (survivors of sex trafficking in Nepal) were paid a fair wage - something that is unfortunately not true with so many of our clothing purchases.

If you’re in the market for a great v-neck - be sure to check out the Rose tee in all four colors!

Olive tee
White tee

Sneak Peek at My New Fair Trade Clothing Line!

Somebody pinch me! Is this really happening?! If you’ve been reading my blog for very long then you know I’m passionate about two things:

  1. Having the time of your life with clothes on a budget (the audacity to enjoy yourself!)

  2. And ethically made clothes (because all humans deserve to be treated fairly!)

These two passions are often in direct opposition with one another, as ethically made clothing tends to be super plain (not my usual colorful style) AND super expensive! So I was beyond excited when Katie, the founder of Elegantees, asked if I would design a spring/summer clothing collection to try to fill this hole in the market. Today’s post features a top that has not just one but THREE ruffles on the sleeve, is super soft, and only $44 - PLUS it was handmade by survivors of sex-trafficking in Nepal, who were paid fair wages. Yes, I think I have died and gone to heaven, officially. You can pre-order this top now, and I’ll be sharing more styles over the next month as the collection officially launches in May! xoxo, J.

Today's Everyday Fashion: The New Casual Friday

“You should buy that.” I was trying on this shirt - over my clothes, in the middle of the store - when a passerby encouraged me to buy it. And that’s exactly what I did! Because I love how much this outfit is both a work look (dress pants and a collared shirt, technically) but the shape is so on-trend. Other selling points were the fabric (100% cotton) and price (under $20). And I love having another way to wear my favorite pants of late (below)!

Today's Everyday Fashion: Rainbow and Denim

These new pants are the best! They come in two colors, and beyond being super comfy, they are the perfect blank canvas. You could go simple with a plain white tee, you could go boho with a pendant necklace, you could go retro with a smocked top - the possibilities are endless. I decided to go rainbow for my first look with them, and my outfit turned out so much like last week’s rainbow and denim look that I decided to do a round up - check out it out below! Which “rainbow and denim” is your favorite?

Today's Everyday Fashion: The Spring Sweater

Sometimes, the most perfect spring sweater comes along. One that’s heavy enough to keep you warm but not itchy (it’s 100% cotton), in pretty colors like blush pink, ivory and taupe, that celebrate spring. Not to mention that sweet dog face! I declared animal sweaters a huge trend maybe 6 years ago? But they are so much more than that - they are a staple I still adore in my closet all these years later. I am excited to add this one to my collection!

Sweater: LOFT, $20 (use code “SURPRISE” for 40% off)

Today's Everyday Fashion: In Between Meetings

On Tuesday, Joshua and I ran some errands and attended two meetings and in between we snapped these colorful photos! I recently made a list of old items in my closet to wear again this spring/summer and this top and skirt were both on the list. Turns out, they go great together. I’m glad to have a new way to wear this cheerful top that’s versatile enough for a busy day!

Today's Everyday Fashion: The Olive Jumpsuit

Truth be told, I like the concept of an olive jumpsuit better than this particular one. It has some fit issues (check out the puckering above the waist in picture #2) and the material is a bit too “beach casual” to dress up with heels. It’s going back (I actually thought I loved it until I saw the pictures!), but this post still has a happy ending. If you’re into olive jumpsuits like I am, then check out lots of alternative options you can shop below!

We Dress America With Walmart

We are proud to partner with Walmart and ShopStyle for today’s post. Sponsors are carefully selected in conjunction with our mission statement to bring you style content we think you’ll love! All opinions and editorial decisions are solely my own.

I’m back for part two with Walmart’s We Dress America campaign!

In my first post, I styled a pair of white denim with bright yellow and pink. Today, I’m rocking the nautical theme with a red, white, and blue color palette at one of my favorite hang-out spots in Orlando - Baldwin Park.

My dress, sweater, straw tote, and red purse are each under $20 from Walmart, and my white jeans and black shoes are brand-name items from the Lord & Taylor shop on Walmart.com. I am especially impressed by the quality of the sweater and sunglasses, and these espadrilles are already on repeat in my closet!

This campaign is all about inclusiveness and diversity - everyone is welcome to participate!  So check out more favorites below, head to Walmart to start shopping, and be sure to post your finds using the hashtags #WeDressAmerica and #WalmartFashion!

Xoxo,
J.

Today's Everyday Fashion: Loving Linen

This outfit contains all the style things I’m loving to wear most right now: linen, button details, balloon sleeves, white shoes, straw bags! Worn together, it has a decidedly vintage vibe and feels oh-so-spring. Is linen a fabric you love to wear? It’s trending but also feels so classic!

Today's Everyday Fashion: The White Jumpsuit

I can remember being in high school and loving this “color combo” of white and nude/khaki so much. It still excites me today - something about this palette feels so crisp and fresh! This jumpsuit, particularly, hits the mark thanks to its ability to be worn day or night, for work or a special occasion. It’s a blank slate just waiting to be dressed up or down. And it’s still in stock at several stores, which I’ve linked below. Plus - a couple new poems I posted on Instagram in case you missed them. 😘

Today's Everyday Fashion: Red Floral Look-For-Less

Inspiration: Neiman Marcus

The inspiration dress cost a whopping 10 times more than the dress I’m wearing - making this a true look-for-less situation! Both dresses have a cute red floral print, both have a tie at the bust (bunny ears, as I like to call it). The fabric of my dress is much more casual though - it would look great with a denim jacket for cooler weather - and I like the bolder print and the price point better. Overall I would pick the more affordable option as the definite winner - plus even more red floral options to consider below!

Earrings: Jane, $5 (similar)

Today's Everyday Fashion: Under $50 Outfit

I’m so excited to share this under $50 outfit with you today because these are such great finds! The top is 100% cotton, super soft and looks great untucked as well as tucked. (Runs TTS - I’m wearing the XS.) The pants are also a great fit and fabric (I’m 5’7” with 2.5” heels for reference), and such a fun color! I like the idea of a crop top for a vacation or weekend like the model, but these pants are also potentially work appropriate, too. I’m excited to style both of these pieces in more ways!

Top: Forever 21, $20
Pants: Forever 21, $25

Today's Everyday Fashion: Strong Shoulders

If ever a dress were my soulmate, this one would be a strong contender. It’s fun, it’s colorful, and perhaps just a little too much. I’ve never been into LBDs (little black dresses) but I will take a little red dress all day long! (See other LRDs in my closet here, here and here.) Beyond the color, it’s the shoulders that take the cake. I love a big ‘ole ruffle - they make me feel super feminine and like a boss at the same time. Do you prefer a LBD or a LRD? What color or feature makes you feel most confident?

Today's Everyday Fashion: Utility Trend Plus Snakeskin

The utility trend includes just about anything that is olive, khaki or a brown derivative. It’s a close cousin/ basically the same thing as the safari trend, and today I’m giving it another try! (See my first post about it here.) These richly-hued neutrals are seriously calling my name, like these tie-waist pants in a unique color and a snakeskin bodysuit that is a near-perfect match. My new button sweater (below) also pairs well with these pants, and I’m excited to try more combinations including longer sleeves and potentially work-appropriate options!
