Amelia Island Travel Guide

Amelia Island is located just south of the Georgia border, on the east coast of Florida. With 13 miles of beaches, an adorable historic downtown area and endless activities, it's perfect as a romantic getaway, girls' weekend or a family vacation!

What to do:
1. Amelia Island River Cruise - We boarded a pontoon boat with Captain "Pajama Dave" at the helm, and set off for live music, BYOB, and amazing views of the sunset. We spotted wild horses, grazing deer, a historic fort and dolphins!
2. Ritz Carlton Amelia Island  - We hit up Coast for lunch, spent some time at the pool with live reggae music, and used day passes to lounge in the luxurious spa.
3. Kayak Amelia - Take a stand up paddle boarding or kayaking class or tour, and experience all the natural beauty of the Atlantic coast. 
4. Fernandina Historic District - Tons of shops, restaurants, and historic homes to enjoy in one of the cutest downtown districts you've ever seen. 
5. State Parks - Tour the Civil War era forts at Fort Clinch State Park, or visit one of the few remaining undeveloped barrier islands at Little Talbot State Park. 

What to eat/drink:
1. Timoti's Seafood Shak - Fast casual like you've never seen it, pictured above. Order at the counter and receive gourmet food at a great price.
2. Joe's 2nd Street Bistro - Take your significant other here on a date! Set in a historic home, Chef Ricky will spoil your tastebuds in a fine dining atmosphere. Our dinner was superb.
3. Moon River Pizza - Grab custom pizza by the slice, at this local hang out for a late-night snack.
4. Sandy Bottoms - Located right outside where we stayed (Seaside Amelia Inn), it features ocean views, yummy beach fare and a stage for live music.
5. Green Turtle - Where the locals hang out! We went on a Friday night and found live music, cold drinks and a great crowd. Also check out Palace - rumor has it that the mayor is a bartender there.

Where to stay:
Seaside Amelia Inn - It was our first time visiting Amelia Island, and we quickly discovered that this hotel is the ideal location. Situated right on the beach, you are steps away from bike and beach rentals, and fun in the sun. It's also a straight shot, about 2 miles inland, to the historic district. Breakfast, wifi, and parking are all included - we loved it.
