Today's Everyday Fashion: The Dress

As you may recall from a recent post, I totally fell in love with this BCBG dress for NYE. At $378 though, it's not within my budget. I didn't want to give up, so I stalked coupon sites until I found a petite one from Bloomies for $211. A tad above my $150 NYE budget, but I realized I have 2-3 occasions I could wear it to this year, so I went for it. I was heartbroken when it arrived - it's beautiful, but it was a size too small. See pictures below - it was way too short and the lines are from it being slightly too restricting in the hips. (Whereas the lines in the photos above are from having plenty of room in the dress. Hard to tell in the photos, but a world of difference in person!) I reluctantly headed to the mall to return it. That's when I spotted it - only two dresses were left on the rack, and one was the size I needed. The prices were technically different since one is petite and the other is not, but when I explained the situation they didn't hesitate to offer to let me exchange it for the same price. (Kudos to Bloomingdale's for having excellent customer service!) I'm so happy to have this dress in my closet for many years and many occasions to come.
