Today's Everyday Fashion: Boots and Pants

Wool hat, black top, green pants, Chinese Laundry shoes

I'm a big fan of short boots. Tall boots never fit my calves, and in general short boots are so easy to slip off and on. They do present one challenge though, which is figuring out how they fit together with the end of your pants. My favorite scenario is when your pants fit nicely just inside the top of the bootie (like here). You can also wear them with your pants rolled at the bottom (LOFT example below).  And if your pants are bootcut, then you can wear them over the top of the boot so only part of your shoe sticks out (like here). And then there's today's look, which is something in between. I wanted to re-create this outfit, but I fear these pants are too long to wear with boots and the zippers make them tough to roll. Do you ever have difficulty wearing pants and short boots?
