I posted my first-ever outfit re-creation in May 2010. (A pink blazer inspired by Whitney Port!) Unbeknownst to me, Pinterest was being conceptualized around the same time and would become a household name by 2012. One of my favorite things that Pinterest did for the world (besides just being a really cool place to collect and organize visual inspiration), is normalizing this idea of copying/DIY-ing whatever inspires you. I can remember getting so much flak in the beginning for being a copycat with my outfits. But I don't think that same social rule exists nearly as much now. Pinterest normalized the idea of doing craft projects, meals, outfits, based on what others are already doing. Which is something I clearly can't get enough of. I will happily use whatever ideas someone has for an outfit to save time and money on getting dressed. Today's Pinterest-inspired look with items already in my closet is the perfect example!
