This white dress is the ultimate blank slate - I'm already dreaming of wearing it with a black leather jacket this fall. Today I'm paring it with a cobalt blazer, inspired by Cassandra. I got to know Cassandra through her comments here, and started following her blog. I love her version of this look, and it gave me an idea to wear this dress with a cobalt fan necklace. Speaking of fan necklaces, Ily Couture has extended their coupon through Tuesday. Use code JFRINGE to get all 10 colors for $16 each (original price $42). Shop here. And check out my fitting room pics from yesterday below!

Between 40% off at American Eagle, and a 50% off coupon for Banana Republic, a quick stop at the mall yesterday was in order. Here's what I found!

Pic 1: I absolutely love this letter jacket but I feel silly in it. Like I'm in high school again. ;-) Jeans fit true to AE sizing, I'm wearing a 4.
Pic 2:  I want this t-shirt in every color; the pants run really short.
Pic 3: Love this camo jacket, it cinches at the waist. I'm waiting for a sale; wearing XS.

Pic 1:  BR jacket  /  BR top  /  BR skirt (similar)
Pic 2:  BR dress
Pic 3:  BR top  /  BR skirt

Pic 1: Love all three pieces! The skirt fits a little snug - I'm wearing my usual BR size 2.
Pic 2: Love the print on this dress. My coupon didn't apply to the Issa collection though. I'm wearing a 0.
Pic 3: Two sale items I tried on. Interesting fit on the bodycon skirt - showed my shape but was oddly loose and too big at the same time. It flared out along the bottom, very different than the model online. Wearing a 2.

Verdict: I bought this shirt and this sweater at BR with my 50% off coupon. Prices were still on the high side though, so we'll see if they make the final cut for my monthly budget. (I find it's better to buy while you have the coupon, instead of regretting it later!) What were your best finds this weekend?

Today's Everyday Fashion: Workout Gear

Today I'm sharing my favorite workout clothes and new neon Asics c/o Finish Line! (Pluse one seriously goofy jumping picture.) Some workouts you might find me doing include: the free neighborhood gym (usually the elliptical), Orlando Power Yoga, running outside, or Fit Body Bootcamp (I did a couple trial classes in July).

I wish I had more of a fitness routine to share, but it's pretty random and I average one or two workouts per week. Having cute workout gear helps me get excited for the gym. Old Navy is my go-to for tank tops and stretchy bottoms, I like Nike Tempo running shorts, and Asics have always been my favorite running shoes. I'm obsessed with these neon Asics from Finish Line because they contain every color of the rainbow, so they easily match anything you pair them with. What work out gear and/or routines are your favorites? Which look do you like the most?

Everything in this outfit is more than a year old, except some of the jewelry. I bought the jeans when I lived in Boston around 2008 and wore them non-stop for two years. They are still like new and never seem to go out of style, a testament to designer jeans being totally worth the money sometimes! Even though I don't wear them often, if I had to pick just one pair in my drawer to keep forever these would be it.

Below I'm sharing some new arrivals from one of my favorite weekend-gear stores, American Eagle. (Everything is 40% off right now with code 74693461.) The items in the left column are my favorite, but honestly I love them all. Which ones do you like? Do you have a favorite pair of jeans that have stood the test of time?

I was browsing Banana Republic's website this week and the new arrivals blew me away! I want to buy all of them, but I also love the styling and saved more than 20 photos for inspiration. Today's outfit is a re-creation of one of those photos, and you'll find more of my favorites I plan on re-creating below. I often feel "stuck" while I'm in my closet, and love that this old blazer, skirt and shirt feel new again by combining them together. What websites, places and things are you finding most inspirational for fall?

On Sunday I was deciding what to wear to church and came up with this option. I liked it so much, I decided to save it for a daytime event I have coming up next week instead. It doesn't have much in common with the inspiration photo, but it started me off with an idea to pair the tweed skirt and two-toned shoes. The skirt is new - a result of a quick stop by the LOFT sale this weekend (dressing room pics below). I exchanged the striped skirt from this post for today's skirt, because I think the tweed will go with a lot more outfits. Also, I love these flats so much that I'm considering adding a heels version to my closet. My favorite is the Express option below. What shoes are on your fall wish list?

INPINK recently got in touch and asked me to style this necklace for an email campaign. Well, I wound up liking the end result so much that I decided to share here on the blog, too! (Hope that's okay with ya'll.) If I didn't have the necklace (it was borrowed) or if you don't have a necklace this color - then I think I would wear these coral shoes I got for $25 recently instead. I love wearing primary colors, and switching out bright red for more of an orange or coral color is a great way to tone it down slightly. Would this color combo work for you?

I'm so excited to share a new company - and genius idea! - today. Jacob Lily sells "shoe clips" - which completely transform the look of your favorite shoes, purses, necklaces, headbands and jackets. Due to their easy snap-on function, they don't poke holes like brooches, and attach to any surface like leather shoes without damaging them.

I'm showing you 3 outfits with Jacbo Lily shoe clips above, and 6 pairs of my favorite shoes dressed up with them below (more ideas here). For every order Jacob Lily receives, $ 1 dollar will be donated to Women for Women International, and they are giving away a set of shoe clips of your choice to two lucky readers. To enter the giveaway:

1.  Keep in touch with Jacob Lily by either following them on Facebook, or on Pinterest.
2. Comment on this post with a link to your favorite pair. Shop here.

Two winners will be chosen at random on 8/28 and notified by email. Good luck!!

Today's Everyday Fashion: The Forgotten Skirt

I bought this blush pink skirt for $20 on clearance in 2008-2009. I haven't worn it in a couple of years, but was so happy to find it at the blottom of my drawer yesterday. This is how I wore it, with the same exact shirt I wore it with a couple years ago. I'm all about repeating outfits, and with fairly recent shoes, purse and necklace it felt new all over again. How soon will you repeat an outfit? (Points will not be deducted if your answer is the very next day!) ;-)

Also - I've had tons of questions about my hair lately. so today I'm spilling the beans. I almost always let it air dry and wear it naturally wavy. Living in Florida, it's useless to fight the humidity and the faster the beauty the routine, the better, in my opinion. See a picture of my favorite wavy hair products below. I have been using the first mousse by Tresemme most often. I like the large amount you get for the price - I use 5-6 kiwi size sprays a day (my hair is thin strands, but insanely thick). It makes my waves frizz-free and soft not crunchy, and it works on both fully wet hair right from the shower, and damp hair that's been air drying for a couple hours.

The second mousse by Loreal yields very similar results, you just get less in the bottle. The third bottle is a dry shampoo by Loreal that's the best dry shampoo I've ever used, and the fourth bottle is a white gel-like substance by Garnier. I believe it's intended to be a finishing product and smooth down frizzies after the mousse, but I'm too lazy to use it.

And above? That's a picture of my straightener, a 1" flat iron that was a gift from my friends at Misikko. The brand is Hana, and it does a great job of getting those natural waves to lay flat. I've tried cheaper straighteners, but my waves are stubborn so higher heat is required. What hair products and tools do you recommend?

Today's Everyday Fashion: Convertible Clothes

Screen shot 2013-08-17 at 11.10.16 PM.png

I've been noticing a trend in stores lately - convertible clothes! Which has me excited, because I love being able to use clothes and accessories multiple ways. I found reversible leather clutches, jackets with sleeves that zip off, necklaces that detach, dresses that can be worn 15 different ways and much more. (I recently added a couple convertible pieces to my own closet, more on that later this week.) Today's post is on Disney's Babble.com, so please click here to read and tell me - which one is your favorite? Do you own any convertible or reversible clothes?

Today's Everyday Fashion: Cropped Trousers

Screen shot 2013-08-16 at 9.55.54 PM.png
Screen shot 2013-08-16 at 9.56.09 PM.png

Today's debate: the cropped trouser vs. colorful denim. In an attempt to branch out from colored skinnies, I ordered these pink cropped trousers. I love the color and fit (I'm showing you my bum to prove it, j/k), but I was also feeling a Golden Girls vibe (like this Jessica Alba pin). I have never been a fan of dress pants though, so maybe I'm not the best judge. Cropped trousers are great for work, especially if your dress code doesn't allow jeans. But the jury is still out on wearing them casually. What do you think? Cropped trousers: office only, or a good replacement for skinny jeans?

ps. I also ordered these flared coral linen pants. My usual size is slightly small, and the length would only be good for flats. The hunt continues.

"Haul" might be one of my least favorite words, but it sure is a good way to summarize today's post. These are pictures of my trying on session upon receiving my recent LOFT.com order. These aren't intended to be "outfits" and LOFT is not involved in this post - and that wrinkle in my skirt is not going anywhere because I wouldn't risk ironing something I might return. ;-)

I am not usually a huge fan of online shopping, but my recent travels had me away for a few weeks and I was sale-stalking these specific items. I wound up using a 50% off promo code with free shipping (follow me on Twitter for coupon codes), and luckily this weekend they are offering 40% off everything online and in stores. I am having a tough time deciding what to keep, but the current front runners are the first two tops above, and the first two dresses below, pending trying them on at the mall this weekend. Which item(s) do you think I should keep? What would  you keep?

I've been wanting to pair this white crochet top with light jeans, but thought white + white would be too much. Thanks to my inspiration photo I had a duh/aha moment and the top looks great with ivory jeans. I bought #1, 7 and 8, but considered all of them (a couple are online exclusives). Which ones do you like?

I call this my couch skirt. It's super-thick and feels slightly like upholstery. ;-) Couch or not, I'm a fan of this material because the thickness hides lumps and bumps and holds your stomach in. I found it on sale at Zara about a month ago and loved the cute pattern and colors. I took these pictures on my way to a birthday party with still-wet hair. (I always let it air dry, but it looked much more presentable by the time I arrived at dinner!) I haven't been able to locate this skirt online, so I shared a bunch of fun alternatives below. I'm excited the army jacket trend is still going strong, because I can't wait to wear mine this fall! I've had this inspiration photo saved for ages and couldn't resist a little cold-weather preview. I recreated the stylish street-styler's look with a sweater from last spring, but would love to find a striped t-shirt in similar colors. And if heels aren't an option, then flat cognac boots or loafers would also work with this outfit. Do you have an army jacket or plan to buy one?

Black & White with Walmart

B&W_POV_JsEverydayFashion.jpg

Today I'm sharing some black and white outfits I put together from Walmart.com! You may recall that I shot a video with Walmart in May (watch the video on their website here), and today I'm re-visiting the black and white trend with some summer and fall outfit ideas. My tips for the black and white trend:

- Black shoes plus a black bottom (outfit #1) look great with virtually any black and white colorblocked top. Bonus points for black pieces that have cool gold hardware!
 - Black and white stripes are bold, but pair them with all black pieces (outfit #2) or all white pieces (outfit #4) for an easy outfit.
 - Pair your black pieces with various shades of gray this fall for a fun take on neutrals (outfit #3).
 - Try your hand at the white accessories trend by pairing a black dress with a white scarf or necklace and white shoes (outfit #5).

Which outfit is your favorite?

ps. I'm planning to order the black and white dress featured in my video (top right in photo above). It becomes available on 8/29, and you can go here to sign up for an email alert like I did!

Today's Everyday Fashion: What to Wear for a Job Interview

Inspiration: Refinery 29

Inspiration: Refinery 29

Screen shot 2013-08-07 at 10.23.03 PM.png

I've had tons of requests for interview attire, so today I'm sharing what I would wear for an interview from my own closet! Below you will find my dress code tips, as well as some shopping options/ additional outfit ideas to help you along on your journey. If you are currently interviewing for jobs - good luck on your job hunt!

Top: Victoria's Secret c/o MJR Sales, old (similar, similar)
Skirt: Banana Republic, $40 (similar, similar)
Purse: Calvin Klein/Saks Off Fifth, $130 (similar)
Shoes: Enzo Angiolini/Piperlime, $32 (similar, similar)
Watch: Michael Kors, gift
Bracelets: My Stella & Dot 123

Rings: My Stella & Dot 12

1. This is the one time I'm a stickler for a neutral palette and an overall simple look. Your personality, your skills, and YOU should shine through and take center stage on a job interview, not your clothes. Save the super-creative, cute outfit for the first day on the job!
2. That said, including one colorful piece - like a pair of shoes, or an accessory (see examples below), is totally fine. It's okay to show some personality, just keep your overall look conservative.
3. A recruiter once told me that women should wear close-toe shoes on an interview. I was living in Boston at the time, where dress codes tend to be more formal than they are in Florida, however I still avoid sandals or open heels on an interview. A small peep toe is the most foot I would show.
4. If you wear a skirt it should always be at your knee or longer. This is my token interview skirt because of the length. I wouldn't go any shorter.
5. I would recommend wearing either a blazer/jacket or a collared shirt, but not necessarily both. When it's hot outside, then just a collared shirt will do. Or if you wear a blazer, then a nice blouse with pretty much any neckline (just don't show any cleavage) is great.
6. If you wear a dress, be sure the length is appropriate (see #4), and wear a blazer over it, or a collared shirt under it, if the dress is sleeveless.
7. I own one taupe/gray suit - a blazer and a matching skirt (pictured above). I've never worn the two together, but I wear the pieces separately often. Still, it's good to consider buying both in case you ever need something that formal.
8. Bring a portfolio (like this cute option) with a freshly printed copy of your resume inside, and a pen and paper to take notes.
9. Interview dress codes vary widely between industries. If you are interviewing at a retail store, for example, be on par with what employees are wearing or nicer. It's always better to err on the side of being too dressed up than not dressy enough. You can adjust your level of dressiness once you start working there.

What are your interview tips, and what do you usually wear for a job interview?

I have such a bad habit of saving my favorite things instead of wearing them. I paid a pretty penny for this dress, and so it's been hard to rip the tags off and wear it. It should be the opposite - I should wear it a ton because I paid so much! The day finally came during my trip home to Kansas. I wore it all day with flats as pictured for brunch, visiting a friend and her kiddos, and then dinner. It was so comfy and fun, I definitely plan on wearing it a lot in the next couple months, like with the white heels for a night out. Do you ever save your favorite things?

I bought it in May, and haven't been able to find it online until now. It's available in both black and navy here. Which outfit is your favorite so far?
