I haven't been shopping much since my job ended 4 weeks ago, however, I recently picked up these tops. Jury is still out on which ones I am keeping - but these beauties are just too good not to share!

Today's Everyday Fashion: Mixing Prints

This look is a bit of an experiment for me. I've been seeing "how to mix prints" features in lots of magazines and decided to give it a try. On the left I paired a printed skirt with a larger printed sweater in similar colors. On the right - I show you what it looks like if you remove the sweater.

So, what do you think - do you like mixing prints? Is this look a miss or a hit?

Sweater: Alice Temperley for Target
Shirt: Forever 21, $22
Belt: Express
Skirt: Limited, $35
Shoes: Calvin Klein/Filene's Basement, $70

Today's Everyday Fashion: The Scarf Belt

Today's outfit started with a scarf. I recently picked up this lovely piece of silk for $3 at Banana Republic. I wanted to wear it with this blue Express shirt I've had for years, but the shirt already has a bow, so the scarf didn't look quite right tied at my neck. I played around with it before settling on wearing it like a belt. The photo on the left is another example of wearing a scarf this way. What's your opinion? Do you like wearing scarves as belts?

Occasion: Work
Scarf: Banana Republic, $3 (recent)
Blazer: Gap, $70
Shirt: Express
Skirt: Banana Republic, $40
Shoes: Banana Republic, $50

Today's Everyday Fashion: Wild Child

I love Miley's bohemian style (photo left, from CoutureCandy.com) - so I decided to re-create it! I skipped the belly baring shirt and threw on a frayed corduroy jacket I've had since college. I think the outfit came out really cute, but not sure I have the guts to wear short shorts and boots like this. What's your take - would you wear this outfit?

Occasion: Music festival
Corduroy Jacket: Kansas boutique
Shirt: Forever 21, $8
Shorts: Abercrombie, $50
Belt: Gap, $40
Necklace: Stella & Dot, c/o stylist Lori McMinn
Boots: Urbanog.com, $24

Today's Everyday Fashion

I recently picked up this great bag at T.J. Maxx for $35. The problem is - it's not leather. A couple years ago, I decided that I wouldn't buy leatherette purses anymore. I wanted to look more grown up and upgraded to a leather bag. I actually only own two purses at this point - which might sound crazy to those of you who own tons of handbags, but my dilemma is that on a budget of $250/month, it's a big investment to purchase a leather purse since they usually start at $200 and go up. I absolutely love this T.J. Maxx bag, and it's only $35, but... it's not leather. I mean I really, really love it, but it's just not leather... and paired with my faux leather jacket I feel like I'm one big walking leatherette billboard. :-)

So, what's your take - is a leather handbag worth the splurge? Should I keep this purse or go for the gold?

Occasion: Casual Friday
Faux leather jacket: Forever 21, $40
Scarf: H&M, $13
Shirt: Elegantees, $20
Jeans: Gap, $44
Shoes: Aldo, $70
Purse: Nine West/Tj Maxx, $35

Today's Everyday Fashion

Sometimes an outfit starts with a shoe, and that is definitely the case for today's look. I've been wanting to wear these cobalt beauties again since I got them last summer. I mixed a mustard cardigan, purple belt and aqua necklace. A bit of a rainbow - but what can I say? I love color! Click here to see the outfit I wore these shoes with last time and tell me - what would you wear them with?

Cardigan: H&M, $18
Shirt: Banana Republic, $35

Today's Everyday Fashion (failure!)

I looooove Blake Lively's outfit (left), but my attempt to re-create came up a little... bell-bottomed. :-) The fit of my pants is all wrong for this look but if I find some high-waisted peach trousers at least I have the rest of the outfit ready to go!

Now tell me: would you wear Blake Lively's pink look?

Shirt: Banana Republic, $15
Belt: Gap, $3
Necklace: Stella & Dot, c/o stylist Lori McMinn
Pants: Kansas boutique
Shoes: Banana Republic, $20
